Featuring many reefs and over 80 dive sites, Bonaire is the place to visit with its miles of coral reefs, teeming with oceanic life. Popular boat diving spots include a double-reef complex named Alice in Wonderland and Angel City, home to Bonaire's most notorious shipwreck, Hilma Hooker, a 1,000-ton sunken freighter. Already 20 years The Bonaire Marine Park protects underwater life by legislation from destruction or damage from careless divers. There are numerous dive shops and PADI dive schools on the island to satisfy the diver from the beginner to the advanced. If you're bringing your own equipment there are (drive in) service areas to handle replenishment of air. |

Windsurfing
Windsurfers will find on Bonaire one of the most ideal spots on earth. It is called Lac Bay and is without doubt one of the best areas in the Caribbean to windsurf. Lac Bay is approximately 8 square kilometers and is situated on the East Coast of Bonaire. The constant 15-knot trade winds guarantee top surfing in this sheltered, shallow bay where no boat traffic is allowed. Whether you're a beginner, an expert or anywhere in between, you can find a suitable location here for your skill level. |

In the temperate waters around Bonaire, a variety of Atlantic fish can be caught year-round. Sailfish, tuna, tarpon, blue marlin, wahoo, barracuda and dorado are abundant. Climbing
Want to climb a mountain? Visit Washington park. The park is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm and covers almost one-fifth of the island. The park offers hills with scenic views, beaches and trees filled with exotic birds. In the center of the park, there is a walking trail up to Brandaris, the highest mountain of Bonaire which offers a wonderful view of the island. Subi Brandaris (241 meters (790 feet) is the highest point in the park and offers the best views of the island. At the top, climbers have panoramic views of the park, with Kralendijk and the white heaps of salt from the Salt Company in the distance. Curaçao lies on the western horizon. On especially clear days, even Venezuela is visible. |

Mountain biking
Because of Bonaire's unique topography, cycling around the island is both interesting and invigorating. Bonaire's arid, semi-desert interior, with its unpaved roads, lends itself to adventuresome mountain bike touring. But there are also miles of paved roads, all suitable for comfortable cycling, meander along the island's sparsely populated coast. Every November, there is an annual international triathlon, consisting of a 1 km swim course in the open ocean, a 40 km flat terrain road course or 25 km hilly off-road course for bicycles, and a 10 km run through downtown Kralendijk. There are many local bike shops which offer rentals and guided tours. |

Nightlife
Bonaire has the reputation of being laid back, slower paced and very tranquil. While this is all quite true, the island also offers many comfortable, charming and exciting nightspots. Many of them are located on the oceanside. Most of the hotels and resorts have their own special night of entertainment. Two hotels, Flamingo Beach and Plaza Resort, house a casino which offers blackjack, poker, slot machines, roulette and other games and close at 2am or 4am. There are also a couple of disco's on Bonaire for those who want to dance the night away. If you don't want to go to bed yet and prefer a slower paced evening, just have a tropical drink on a moonlit patio under a star studded sky, or enjoy a wonderful dinner in one of the island’s quiet restaurants. Whatever your preference is, you're sure to find a large variety of cuisine to suit your palate! |

Bird watching
Bonaire is a favorite of birdwatchers. Over 190 species of birds can be seen on the island, many of them clustered around Goto Lake, Pekelmeer, Cai and Dos Pos. Spotting each species depends to some extent on migration patterns and the weather. Most of the birds that have been officially recorded for Bonaire, with a few notable exceptions, are affiliated with xerophytic and thorny scrub and cactus wilderness type vegetation. The Flamengo is Bonaire's national symbol. There are only four places in the world where flamingo colonies breed -- Bonaire is one of them! Many of the tour operators can guide interested birders to catch glimpses of some of Bonaire's illusive winged residents. |

Tennis enthusiasts will be pleased to discover that Bonaire offers a wide range of tennis services to those visiting the island; take advantage of this perfect opportunity to brush up on your skills, improve your game, get a great work-out, meet other tennis players, and of course have tons fun. There are tennis courts at the Plaza Resort Hotel, Harbour Village , and Sand Dollar and in the center of Kralendijk behind the Maduro & Curiels Bank. Bonaire looks even better from 180m (600 ft.) in the air. Enjoy the views from a different and dramatic angle as parasailing is a unique and thrilling way to look at our island. As you float high up above Klein Bonaire, you get a fantastic view of the east coast of Bonaire. Just below you a turtle might be surfacing for air or a family of dolphins could be playing with the waves. Just hang in there and enjoy the view! Flight time is only 12 or 15 minutes, but secure in your boat-towed parachute, you're on top of the world. Caribbean Parasail & Water Sports' place of departure is opposite the Cappuccino Bar on Karel's Beach Bar Pier. Take a disposable waterproof camera along to show your friends back home that you've been there, done that. |
