Villa Salina was the first house built on Oud Lagoen in 1996 on lot 02-A as the private home of the developer. It features Colombian hardwood floors troughout the house, a guesthouse and a fully matured garden. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an upstairs vide and the large high ceiling livingroom this house breathes the grandeur of old colonial times. The steps to the front porch as well as the many details of the bread oven (now used to house the 4- ring stove inside) are molded from original Bonairean homes as seen on the island around 1890. Inside the house is equiped with all comforts of modern times. The villa
Located near a quiet bay called Lagoen, (the Lagoon), Villa Salina was inspired by the flavor and spirit of Colonial Dutch plantation homes. This spacious villa ( 1,830 sq ft / 170m2) offers all modern comfort of today. By car it takes 4 minutes to get to the nearest beaches and 4 minutes to visit the quiet town of Kralendijk with its many bars restaurants and supermarkets.
The Garden The private gardens were designed and landscaped by a professional landscape architect. By using imported tropical plants and trees, a sense of depth and balance was achieved to enhance the colonial setting. More than 60 trees and over 3000 plants have created a lush oasis. There is plenty of room for sun tanning, a quiet spot of reading, or simply a gentle stroll to discover an unusual flower or tree.
Maids house
The Maid's house is a totally self-supporting small unit with a kitchenette, 4 ring gas stove and bathroom. It is designed as a small guesthouse and will sleep two extra guests. On request beauty treatments and sport-massages can be given here by our trained and certified staff. Just let us know in advance.
Hardwood floors
Inside the atmosphere of the past is created with the addition of hardwood floors and high ceilings. You will find a large living area with all the comforts of home: two comfortable sofas, an antique dining table and chest, dimmed halogen lights cable TV and a stereo. Upstairs is the vide that can be used as playroom for the children, or as a fourth bedroom.
Kitchen
The very spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a large American fridge/freezer, icemaker, 4 ring gas stove, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, utensils, pots and pans....all the necessary items to do home cooking. The local supermarkets carry all American and European brands from Hellmann's mayonnaise to Dutch Calvé peanut butter.
Classic features
The very spacious kitchen with beautiful handcrafted kitchen cabinets has many classic features and is hand painted in an aged effect. The hardwood floors throughout the whole house, together with the classic doors give the house a grand colonial feeling. The traditional style handmade hinges and door latches are imported from the U.K.
Bedroom
Villa Salina houses three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a modern comfortable queen-sized bed, dimmed halogen lighting, television, two bedside tables, two large built in closets for storage and adjoins a luxurious bathroom. All bedrooms have a remote controlled ceiling fan. The two other bedrooms have, comfortable beds and share the second bathroom.
All comforts of today
The master bedroom en-suite bathroom is tiled with large Portuguese tiles and has dimmed halogen lighting. Traditional are the porcelain sink and shower. A 110V shaver socket is present. Bath towels are provided. A laundry service is available, just let us know in your inquiry form if you want to use it.
